Grow up with Frank Sinatra,
meditate on the nature of time and war, out-pitch Babe Ruth, uncover a conspiracy, profile a killer, pay homage to
Henry James, search for Judge Joe Crater, get stalked by a faceless
enemy, explore the history of Ellis Island, sit shivah with a
dysfunctional family, examine Teddy Roosevelt’s foreign
policy, be uplifted by the extraordinary strength of the human
spirit, ponder the aftermath of 9/11, follow the downward spiral of an
iconic athlete, overcome a difficult childhood, and champion
librarians.
What do all of these
experiences have in common? They are the subjects, plots, or
creations of this year’s Washington Irving Book Award winners.
You’re
invited! Join us as storyteller Jonathan Kruk brings
local legend Washington Irving to life and a variety of authors, all
Westchester County residents, talk about their Award-winning
books. Speakers will include storyteller Jonathan Kruk;
novelists Stefanie Pintoff, Wendy Corsi Staub, Jonathan Tropper, and
Joe Wallace; nonfiction authors Vincent Cannato, Francesco Clark, James
Kaplan, Marilyn Johnson, Scott Malcomson, Jeff Pearlman, and Joe
Queenan. A short Q&A session moderated by Librarian Z and a book signing will
follow.
