The
meeting commenced at 10:20 A.M. Motion (Herzberg/Hesler) to approve the
summary
of the meeting from February 8, 2007 with one minor correction passed.
President’s
Report:
WLA
Slate for 2007-2008:
Ransom noted that
Rodgers and Cutul have offered to continue as Treasurer and Secretary.
Candidate for Vice/President/President Elect has not been found yet.
Rao
volunteered to e-mail WLA college and school librarians asking if
anyone would
be interested in this position.

Report:
Rodgers
reported that, as of February 28, 2007, WLA had $9,740.38 in the
Investor’s
Choice account and $19,048.88 in the Checking account. She will e-mail
statements to Board members.
Membership
Report:
WLA
has 254 members for 2007. Renewal reminders have been sent via U.S.
mail to all
2006 and 2005 members who have not renewed their membership.. The
Preliminary
Conference flyer has been included in the renewal mailings, sent via
e-mail to
all 2007 members who have provided Rao with an e-mail address, and has
been
posted on the SLA Hudson Valley Chapter’s Web site.
Rao will send the final Conference program flyer with
registration form to all 2006 and 2007 members with e-mail addresses.
Ransom
will send Rao electronic versions of both documents. Rao will send this
information
via US mail to 2007 members without e-mail addresses. Rao needs a
membership
table at the Annual Conference, preferably near the registration table.
Web
Administration
Committee:
Z.M.
Baird reported on behalf of T. Baird, who has set up a Wiki for WLA
Board
members. Sheets were distributed with URL, user name and password.
Reference
Section:
Hesler
reported that Ken Fujiuchi of Buffalo State College will speak about
blogs,
wikis and other social networking Web sites at the Annual Conference.
Fujiuchi
has requested to do a morning workshop and will be reimbursed $150 for
travel
expenses.
Youth
Services Section:
Dressler
reported that the Youth Services Section is co-sponsoring a Performers
Showcase
with WLS on March 20, 2007 at White Plains Public Library.
Z M Baird reported that School/Public
Library Collaboration will be the morning topic for a panel at the
Annual
Conference. The Conference afternoon
session will focus on the impact of cultural diversity on library
services.
College
Section:
Ransom
reported on behalf of Mannino that Dorothy Larkin, Associate Professor
at the
School of Nursing at the College of New Rochelle has agreed to do a
session at
the Annual Conference. She will talk about stress in the workplace,
environmental changes, and working with hostile co-workers. Ransom will
check
the time of the program with Larkin.
Legislation
Committee:
Ransom
thanked Jackson, who was excused from attending the meeting, for
arranging a
successful bus trip to Albany on Library Lobby Day on March 13, 2007. She urged Board members to keep up the
advocacy to the legislators. Jackson
will e-mail a report to Ransom to be distributed to Board members.

will get in touch with keynote speaker, Leslie Burger, to find out the
topic of
her address and also ask her if she can do an afternoon workshop on
privacy. Lindsay will find out if Burger
needs to be reimbursed
for her travel expenses.
Budget and

Baird will look for a breakfast sponsor.
Cutul
will solicit raffle prizes.
WLA
will pay $15 to WLS for each non-WLS Black Belt workshop attendant.
Motion
(Z.M.Baird/Herzberg) to increase Conference fees by $5.00 as follows,
except
student fee will remain the same as last year.
Conference and Luncheon: $25 Library Student,
$40 Members, $50 all others
Meetings and Exhibits only: $35 Members, $45
Non-Members (same as last year)
Equipment:
Herzberg
urged workshop organizers to inform her of equipment needs A.S.A.P. She
has two
laptops that can be used.
Publicity:
Hesler
asked who would do publicity for Warren Graham’s workshop. Lindsay will
look
into this.
March
23 is deadline for rough cut flyer and registration form with March 30th
as final deadline.
The
meeting concluded at 12:00 noon.
